Greetings from Mrs. Hunter
Dear Kennedy Families:
I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and let you know how grateful I am to be part of the Kennedy community as your Principal. One of the most important aspects as an educator is building connections with our students, staff, and community. I am excited to immerse myself in elementary learning and providing support and encouragement for our students, staff, and families. Kennedy has a reputation for providing rigorous learning experiences cultivated in warm and welcoming culture and I hope to continue to uphold those expectations. I am here to lead and help meet the needs of all our students. I look forward to a collaborative partnership with our Kennedy community!
Educationally, I am committed to being a life-long learner. I began my academic journey at Albion College where I graduated with a degree in History and Political Science. From there, I attended Wayne State University Law School and earned my Juris Doctor. During my time in law school, I was able to teach two law classes at Pershing High School in Detroit and found my passion. Upon graduation, I attended Saginaw Valley State University to earn my teaching degree. While teaching, I was able to earn my Masters in Educational Leadership from Marygrove College. All of these educational experiences have shown me the doors that open through learning.
Professionally, I have been an educator with Livonia Public Schools since 2007 and an administrator since 2015. I taught social studies at Stevenson High School before moving to Administration. Before coming to Kennedy, I was an Assistant Principal at Churchill High School for 8 years.
Personally, I have been married since 2004. My husband and I have three children, Macie (17), Max (16), and Morgan (14). In addition, we have one dog, MoHenry (yellow Lab). We also adopted two cats, Sugar and Cookie, that are now 2 years old. In our free time, our family is very involved in soccer, football, and basketball, traveling often for sports.
I look forward to building a solid partnership with you to provide the most rigorous and supportive learning environment for our students!
